Success in Skegness

While many of our members, especially new ones, only bowl socially, others play competitively in the leagues representing the club.

However, we have one member, our Hon. Secretary (Rob Hill), who plays in many regional and national competitions each year. Recently Rob took part in the prestigious Skegness Over 55s Singles tournament along with 132 other bowlers from many counties. Many competitors had significantly more experience at county and national level than Rob, with several holding multiple national titles.

After playing six rounds, some entailing Rob having to pull out all the stops to recover from being behind, he reached the final. Despite going 9-1 down, Rob fought back to win 21-15. Over the week, Rob earned himself the title of “comeback king“ (as he was dubbed at the presentation ceremony) and he is now the Skegness Over 55s Singles champion.
